St. Louis City Schools

Why are we doing this?

This resource is a product of the City Parents League of St. Louis, a not-for-profit collection of urban minded people raising children in the city we love.

A Common Scenario

We moved to St. Louis a few years ago, excited to live in the city and take advantage of all the perks of urban living. Before we knew it, we had a family – the whole question of what to do about schools really snuck up on us...

Charters and Magnets and Lotteries, Oh My!

We started our research online, sifting through a suprising amount of confusing or outdated information. In talking with friends and neighbors, we realized we weren't the only ones struggling to understand our options. Most disappointingly though, we found that misconceptions and misinformation lead many of the people we'd met to consider moving out of the city without touring a single school.

It doesn't need to be this hard

After months of research, we can confidently say that there are great things happening in education here in St. Louis right now. We've toured fanastic schools of all types and have spoken with some amazing teachers, administrators and parents. Our hope is that by providing a little guidance and some good information, we can eliminate the misconceptions and ultimately grow the number of young families here in the city. With more families, comes more parental involvement – arguably the most important factor in turning good schools into great ones.

We're excited to do our part.

You can help!

This website is a labor of love by parents like you, all pitching in to improve our city. Here are a few ways you can help out:

  • Spread the word – Tell the other parents you know. Every parent in the city deserves to have the best information when choosing a school. Share on Facebook, Tweet
  • Add reviews – If you have experience with any city schools, please take a few moments and add a review. First-hand experiences are at least as important as any other metric when evaluating a school.
  • Help us verify school information – The accuracy of our school data is critical. We attempt to profile over 300 area schools, which requires a lot of time.
  • Volunteer your expertise – Have an idea or a special skill to lend to the cause?
  • Make a donation – Maintaining and promoting the website costs money. Every little bit helps.
