My son was in the first graduating class from CLA. He started when the school opened, and attended 4 years. I can't say enough good things about our experience at CLA. He was behind academically and socially, and was working under an IEP. He managed to not only catch up to his peers, but is no longer under an IEP. He was accepted at both magnet schools he applied to for high school. The staff and teachers genuinely care about students and their families. My only complaint is that meetings and events are typically scheduled during the school day, so working parents often find it difficult to attend things. This is our first year away from CLA, and I feel like we left a family behind. Take a good look at CLA, and look beyond the test scores and state ratings, because they don't tell the whole story. In our experience, you get out of education what you put into it - if your family is engaged with the school and your child's teacher(s), your child can be successful. It takes a village to educate a child.
