  • Gifted Education: Horizons, Central's program for gifted children, provides academic enrichment in a pull-out program once a week. The Gifted Specialist also pushes into the classroom to work with Horizons students throughout the week. She collaborates with classroom teachers to provide enrichment in the curricular units of the core curriculum (social studies, literacy, etc.), as well.
  • Special Education: Wings, the other department of Central's learning center, provides support for students with mild learning disabilities. The Wings Learning Specialists provide support in reading, writing, and math, as well as accommodate students with sensory issues. Wings is a pull-out and push-in program. A Literacy Specialist is also available to work one-on-one with children in Senior Kindergarten through third grade who may need some extra short-term support.
  • Parent Involvement: Partners in Education (PIE) is our parent organization that gives support to teachers and provides community-building events throughout the year. Central Dads also builds community by providing fun activities. Parents at Central read in the classroom, speak about life experiences in the classroom (as it pertains to the curricular study), chaperone field trips, volunteer in the school office, and assist with events held by the Office of Advancement (fundraising events, admissions open houses, etc). A monthly Courageous Conversation for parents gives moms and dads an opportunity for guided dialogue about tough issues facing our city and nation; these conversations provide a way to build unity through Christ among our diverse community. Leadership Coffees occur six times each year, giving our parents, Principal, and Head of School an opportunity to get to know each other.

  • A great place for academic and personal developmentParent 01/29/2016
From the moment we went to the school’s open house, we knew this place had something special in store for our children. Our kids have developed a love of learning from the school’s compassionate, yet inspired environment. We have witnessed how our children have grown in their faith from the school’s intentional teaching of God’s grace and mercy. The combination of smaller class size and remarkable teachers have challenged our kids to excel in all academic areas, giving them the potential to choose from many exceptional secondary schools. The diverse student population has not only enriched our own children’s learning experience, but also ours as parents as we have developed amazing friendships with families from various other cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Central Christian School provides a strong foundation for its students – educationally and personally – as they leave here well-equipped to be confident leaders who are known for their outstanding character.
  • One of our best choices as parentsParent 11/23/2015
Central has a unique community of bright, motivated parents and teachers partnering to provide an exceptional educational experience. Take a look at the test scores -- Central students are at the top. And, after their time at Central, many enter highly competitive secondary schools and thrive there. Beyond that, we just love this school. As a parent, I know that my children are challenged and cared-for at school, that they are excited to go each morning, and that Central is a beautiful way to start their educational journey.
