  • McKinley opened in 1904 as the first comprehensive public high school in south St. Louis, then closed in 1988 and operated as a magnet middle school in 1994. In 2007, it reopened as a high school for gifted and talented students
  • Extracurriculars: Chess Club, Debate, Mathematics Club, Basketball, Tennis, Golf, Scoccer, Track and Field, Volleyball, Media Club, Robotics, Environmental Club, Astronomy Club, Art Club
  • Special Education: Provides 2 classes for autistic students

    McKinley is consistently in the top 12 hush schools in MO it often gets over looked, but is worth checking out. We have been happy.My son in in 10th grade. My 7th grader is considering staying for HS too. Lots to do!

    The middle school was a struggle but great preparation. My student fought to stay at the high school and he is thriving. They will be needing more college placement support but that is my only complaint - an excellent school!

    Our children came here in middle school and we have now decided to stay for high school. We love they are learning and that they are thriving here. We had thought about private schools and we had even entertained the idea of moving to the county, but we absolutely can't imagine sending our kids elsewhere... More
