The St. Michael School is a wonderful school. It?s relatively small, which means you get to know everyone quickly. There is some fluidity across grade levels with small groups for math and reading, which allows both stronger and weaker students to be challenged at their ability level, but students remain part of a regular class that is defined by age. One of the most distinctive elements of St. Michael?s is that it has a hub topic that changes each year (last year: Design, Invent, Play; previously: food, world religions) and an exceptional art program that is designed to meshes with the rest of the curriculum. The school site itself is somewhat landlocked, which does limit some activities, but also forces teachers to think creatively. For example there is an abundance of field trips, and regular gym classes in Forest Park for the older grades.
